A Look at the Real Estate Market in June 2010

The Houston real estate market continues to remain strong, thanks in large part to the homebuyer tax credit. While this tax credit has come and gone, we expect the Houston/Katy market to remain strong. There are several factors that lead us to believe that we will continue to see modest growth over the next few months.

Summer means more than hot temperatures

In Houston and surrounding areas, summer means hot temperatures and an active real estate market. Most REALTORS® agree that this is the most active part of the season. We typically see a lot of activity in June, a slight lull in activity in July, and another surge in August. The “lull” in July is a relative one; a modest July is still a good month compared to the rest of the year.

Our market is an affordable one

Recession or not, the Houston/Katy area has remained an affordable option for local residents and has been extremely attractive to companies and their employees in other parts of the nation. Thanks to this, Houston and its surrounding areas will continue to attract new players in a wide variety of industries. This activity will only help to boost home sales throughout the region.
