Fannie Mae Offers Additional Incentives to Homebuyers
In an effort to help potential homeowners, Fannie Mae announced late last week that people purchasing a Fannie Mae-owned HomePath® property could receive up to 3.5% of the final sales price. This contribution could be used for closing cost assistance or to purchase appliances. This offer applies to properties listed on HomePath.com and applies only to owner-occupants, not investors who plan to use the property for income generation. To be eligible the purchase must close before May 1, 2010.
This assistance plan will certainly help qualified buyers to make a purchase while reducing the amount of inventory Fannie Mae currently holds. Many Fannie Mae-owned properties are eligible for special mortgage and renovation mortgage financing, giving homebuyers the opportunity to purchase with as little as 3% down.
